Glenpark Ave Community Garden is a small orchard and veggie garden on the Huatoki Walkway at Glenpark Ave. We are looking for a new volunteer to join our small inner circle of key gardeners. Help us run working bees (Once a month, every second Sunday 2–4pm), water the vegetables over summer, and make decisions about the future of the garden. Be part of a warm and creative group of garden enthusiasts. Gardening knowledge welcomed but not necessarily required, just a generous spirit and time to participate. Contact Erin at glenparkorchard@gmail.com or via Facebook.

The He Awhi Rito Community Compost bins (no 8 1st Avenue Whangarei) are in a dire state! We (Judy, Janey, me and Clint) will be in Whangarei on Tuesday 20th to dig out gluggy compost and mix in greens/carbons and AIR to get them pumping again. If anyone can lend a hand, and/or has greens or browns they can contribute, please get in touch or turn up between 10.30-4 (I'm driving down from Kaitaia to help, so wont be there early!!). The secondary compost bins are also falling apart, any handy builders out there that have some time to lend a hand, Clint would appreciate the help!
These bins process event compostable waste and feed into the community gardens, so any help here will also help our Whangarei community.

I still need help to dig out aged sheep pellets from a woolshed. Happy for the person to take 1/2 of what they dig out and the time taken up to 4 hours. Hope that makes sense. Of course open to negotiation :)

Has anyone got little self seeded Camelia plants under their established bushes? Ideally pink or red ones? I'd love to come by and dig some up for transplanting to our place. I have plenty of the white camelia sinensis (tea plant) but would love to add some color. Many thanks!

We have two community gardens in Kaeo and are always grateful for help.
Both gardens are producing food and there is always some goodies to take home.
Our gardens:
Mangamanihi road - our gardening time is Fridays from 3pm til 5pm (this has also a food forest surrounding with loads of fruit trees!)
Pupuke- te huia marae road- we garden on Saturdats from 10am til 12pm
Both gardens are quite different and have a huge potential to feed us (and you) and the community!

Doesn't have to be an experienced gardener... But we urgently need a couple of helping hands in our gardens.
You'll have seen our gardens each time you see the Bush School facebook ads or the SerenidipiDay photos or Transition Town's Māra Tui photos, so you'll know how beautiful our farm and gardens are.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, email or best is a txt or phone call.
Cheers,
Marty
