Glenpark Ave Community Garden is a small orchard and veggie garden on the Huatoki Walkway at Glenpark Ave. We are looking for a new volunteer to join our small inner circle of key gardeners. Help us run working bees (Once a month, every second Sunday 2–4pm), water the vegetables over summer, and make decisions about the future of the garden. Be part of a warm and creative group of garden enthusiasts. Gardening knowledge welcomed but not necessarily required, just a generous spirit and time to participate. Hi we need volunteers to help us maintain our compost at CBEC in exchange for some compost to take home! Every second Tuesday of the month we need extra hands. Eco Solutions collect paper towels from kindis, and the waste from the Kaitaia Market and compost it, we then gift it back to the kindis and kura, we would love a few extra hands to turn the compost every month, and lawn clippings, we are happy for helpers to take home compost in return! I have a Trade Tested tunnel house to put up in my garden. There will be a bit of digging to level ground.
There are also 2 raised garden beds to put together and fill. These are jobs I would happily do for myself, but I am currently recovering from abdominal surgery.
Can give hours, and trade a few kale, spinach and purple sprouting broccoli seedlings.
I hope to get it done within the next month.

A garden to promote wellness, community connections and to be a learning / growing space for any who require it.
Our goal is to educate and connect rather than high production. This is a permaculture garden based on the core ethics of 'Earth Care' 'People Care' and 'Fair Share'. We encourage everyone to start a garden at home.
There will be monthly open days including workshops, seed and crop swaping and information sharing.
You can also be part of the regular volunteer team taking care of the gardens.
