Writing/Editing
Oferta grupal
I'm available for writing, editing, and literary workshopping. I've pulled $100,000+ in grants from arts-council funding bodies, published half a dozen books (poetry and non-fiction), and written for the stage and screen. Here are some testimonials from writers I've worked with in the past: "Kevin Heslop is detail-oriented and thorough, yes; he's appropriately gentle with his criticisms, yes; he's attuned to the rhythm of the sentence, yes—he’s everything one should expect a professional writer, reader, and editor to be. But he also senses intuitively where your work is going and provides suggestions that feel like they came straight out of your own head.” - Erica McKeen, novelist “I came away from the day prepared to see my novel through.” - Frank Moore, novelist “He has a keen sense for finding the kernel in the poem (even in draft form) and for helping the author develop that kernel into a compelling, polished, and formally interesting poem. That skill, plus Kevin's calm and inviting charisma, make him an ideal workshop leader.” - David Janzen, philosopher/poet/professor "Kevin taught me a great deal about writing - not only of the craft itself, but of its history and discourse, of the poet's mind. I learned specific techniques (and their rationale), I developed a better and broader understanding of how language can be used, and I gained exposure and experience in how to read and respond to other poets' work.” - Shannon Arntfield, poet "Working with Kevin has undoubtably made me a better writer.” - Jack Copland, actor/screenwriter "Kevin Heslop's one-on-one poetic mentorship has been invaluable in my poetic process." - Linda Lucas, first-time author "The possibilities he sees in my work open up space for me to play in, and my writing becomes both more precise and more expansive in response to his unwaveringly detailed, sensitive, and thoughtful feedback.” - Shelly Harder, poet/academic At your service!
